Official spokesperson

The official spokesperson for the National Assembly Party is Dr. Madawi Talal al-Rasheed, one of its founding members.

Madawi is Visiting Professor at the Middle East Centre of the London School of Economics, having previously worked as a Professor of Anthropology

at King’s College London and as a Visiting Research Professor at the Middle East Institute, National University of Singapore. In 2020 she was elected a Fellow of the British Academy.

Madawi’s research covers history, society, religion and politics in Saudi Arabia and the Gulf, and has focused especially on religio-political debates in Saudi Arabia since the events of September 11, 2001. She has written several books and articles in academic journals on the Arabian Peninsula, Arab migration and globalization, as well as on Middle Eastern Christian minorities in Britain and Islamist movements.

Madawi is a recipient of Denmark’s Politiken Freedom Prize. She is also the granddaughter of the last ruler of the Rashidi dynasty in Ha’il (1836-1921).
